Admiral McRaven has written this bestseller in a simple and lucid manner. The book is easy to read and can be completed even in one sitting as it is precise and to the point without unnecessary and irrelevant prose. It gets full score on SD which defines the writing standards in the Military parlance.
The book has ten chapters each with a life lesson which author believes can change your life and may be the world. He shared various anecdotes from his long illustrious career in US Navy SEAL from where he learned these lessons. The details about his life threatening accidents are scary and his training as a SEAL commando is inspiring. In the end he also shares his speech in Texas which formed the basis of this book. It is more of a synapse of whole book.
However, a few odd anecdotes are not that inspiring and at places the details are too short, asking for more.
Overall a nice book which should not be categorised as a “SELF IMPROVEMENT” or “MOTIVATIONAL” kind. Just read it, enjoy the life of an admiral and you will get enough food for thought.
